Suntec City, Singapore

One of Singapore's landmarks

Suntec City in January 2005.

Suntec City in November 2005.

The shopping mall in Suntec City, November 2005.

Suntec city is one of the huge
mixed-use
centers in Singapore with a similar concept as the Raffles city (both close to each other in the eastern part of central Singapore). It's a complex with 4 skyscrapers and a famous fountain in the middle: The fountain of Wealth, which is since 1998 the biggest fountain in the world. The complex also houses the formerly biggest shopping mall in Singapore, that was since surpassed by VivoCity in Harbour Front. Each of the 4 high-rise towers is 181m tall. Suntec City opened in 1995. I remember going to this shopping mall a lot, it's really huge, probably the biggest shopping mall I have ever been to. And the shopping mall is connected with the one in Raffles City by underground corridors, which is also a shopping mall named CityLink Mall. Singapore is definitely a shopping paradise. Nowhere in the world I have seen such huge density of extremely large shopping malls. If shopping would be an Olympic discipline, Singapore would continually be winning the gold medal. If shopping is the meaning of life, then Singaporeans are truly spiritual people (joking).

These are the instructions for the fountain of wealth.

Yes, I have taken some pics here, but I did not walk around the water 3 times. No, I don't fall for these things. But I'm sure Shingo T, the famous Singaporean blogger, did walk around there. If he really became wealthy, then I'll walk around the fountain during my next visit :-)
